Lisbon City Museum

Located near the Campo Grande, one of Lisbon’s biggest parks, this museum tells the story of the city since pre-historic times until the 19th century. It is housed in an old palace (Palácio Pimenta) which King Dom João V had built in the 18th century for his encounters with his lover, Madre Paula, a nun in the Odivelas Convent. The museum has paintings, watercolours, tile panels, historical documents and even a model of the city of Lisbon before the destruction caused by the 1755 earthquake.

Opening hours: Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.   and then from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.    closed on Mondays and holidays
