Adelino Lyon de Castro

Adelino Lyon de Castro was a very important figure of the Portuguese literary and editorial world, having founded, with his brother Tito, the Publicações Europa-América publishing house in 1945. In 2009, the National Museum of Contemporary Art received a generous donation from Tito: a compilation of the photographic collection of Adelino Lyon de Castro. His photographic geniality captured faces of the Portuguese people during Salazar’s regime, showing their living conditions and how workers were marginalised in society.
