The Enchanted Forest
The music was commissioned to Geminiani by the architect and director Giovanni Niccolò Servandoni (1695 - 1766) for one of the several adapted performances of “La Gerusalemme Liberata”, a masterpiece by the famous Italian poet, Torquato Tasso (1580). This text describes Goffredo di Buglione and Rinaldo’s attempt of recovering the siege of Jerusalem. Ismeno had enchanted the forest where the warriors went to gather wood to build their weapons.
