Oedipus and the Sphinx
Francis Bacon (1909-1992) took inspiration for the famous French painter, Jean-Dominique Ingres (1780-1867) about the
myth that portrays a dialogue between Oedipus and the Sphinx. The Berardo Collection in the CCB has Francis Bacon’s work, Oedipus and the Sphinx after Ingres. Thanks to an exceptional loan by the Musée du Louvre, both works can be exhibited at the same time.
