Encompassing the globe: Portugal and the world in the XVI and XVII centuries:

Encompassing the Globe
This is the greatest exhibition ever made about the Discovery period. You will find here historical documents that show the importance of Portugal in the establishment of a globalized world. By establishing an international flux of goods, cultures, people and, most importantly, of communication between Asia, Africa and the Americas, Portugal gave the first impulse to an interdependent world. This collection of documents was firstly shown in Washington DC in 2007 and then in the Palais des Beaux Artes in Brussels between October 2007 and February 2008. Don’t miss out on this opportunity and come and find the registers of the Portuguese presence in the world and the influence of Asia, Africa and the Americas on Portuguese art and culture.
